My other half has a 2 litre Megane coupe on a 51 plate. She went out to start it this morning and its like the key is not recognised. The button to open the car will not work and had to be done manually so I changed the remote battery but it is still the same. There is a bit of a rapid clicking noise coming from the fuse area but nothing looks untoward. Is there a time delay between the alarm going off and being able to restart the car? I am pretty stumpe now as to what it could be so any assistance would be a geat help.
cheers in advance Craig

you sure you don't have a flat attery. the clicking sound will tell you that the battery is flat.

have you had a flat battery as this could cause the alarm system to go haywire

Had a similar sounding probem on our 172 and called the AA out. Like has been mentioned a new battery seemed to solve the problem. Was a bugger getting the code sorted to get the car to start after new battery fitted though!!

Disconnected the battery for a few seconds and tried again. The dashlights never came on so flat battery was the culprit. I have a porta pack starter and it fired first time. Stange though as it has started twice again now with a couple of hours in between. Who knows a new battery at the worse
