Sorry, not a great way to start in here.

Bought the wife a W reg Renault Laguna 1.6 Sport Hatch, done 76,000 miles.
Very clean, blah blah....

Anyway, had it a week and had to rescue her once & call the RAC once..so far!
Now she has just got in and the car is running 'funny'

Sounds like it has lost a cylinder. Runs really lumpy when you rev it..
I have taken a look..but getting dark. All looks ok, nothing unplugged.
Where are the spark plugs on these engines????
I think i've discovered the airbox, but that has torx bolts, so can't get to that.
Do you think this is electrical or......?

A 1000 apologies for numpty 1st post, i'm hoping someone can give me an idea of what it could be.

Cheers.

All the injectors were merrily clicking away. And i could smell fuel, which would seem to me that a cylinder is not firing. Hence lumy running.

Where are the spark plugs on this engine. Nothing is where it should be??
Used to Fords.... not tuned into the 'Renault' way of thinking.

thanks for your help.

Probably a coil. Remove each coil one at a time and see if it changes the engine sound. Coils are notorious on Renaults.

I tried that as i can see one has been changed already.
I unclipped the one on the right and the engine immediately died.
I think to be safe i will replace all 4, see what happens?

cheers.

It was indeed a coil. Does seem to be a weak link with these cars...
