Renault Megane Coupe Revealed?

These pictures show what the Renault Megane three door could look like when it goes on sale in early 2009. According to the guys over at Carscoop the images have come from a patent application made within the EU and are pretty much what the production car will look like. The three-door could even be sold as a coupe, in the same way as the new SEAT Ibiza, and as such it has a far neater design than the five-door.

The engines are likely to be the same as the five-door: 1.6-litre units developing 100 and 110 HP, a 2.0-litre motor with 140 HP and two new turbocharged units, the 1.4-liter TCe producing 130 HP and the 2.0-litre TCe with 180 HP.

There will also be a choice of diesel units. Also expect a range-topping RenaultSport version at a later date.

I thought they claimed that the current Laguna and Twingo were the only two boring Renaults to come out and that the new Megane would be exciting. All I'm wondering now is, to whom?

Andrew MG, only those committing business suicide, the big manufactures need to sell quantity and therefore follow current styling trends, then produce smaller volume, different cars alongside these.

tought it was fugly at first, but getting used to it


Not the best looking car, but if the next one is anything in the likes of the new 2 and the new 6, it could be a new yardstick.

As for the Megane: it's good looking, but indeed, the rear is like a carbon copy from the Astra.
