Just replace the head gasket all ok but am having trouble finding the locking point for the crank/flywheel.
According to the Haynes manual the camshaft locking point is through the cam wheel and into the head with a 10mm bolt (no problem found that one) but the book shows the second one at the end of the block just in the area of the crank position sensor, a 6mm hole that will take a 6mm dowel or drill bit through the flange of the block and into a corresponding hole in the flywheel. This is the problem cant find any hole in the flywheel.
Am i missing something or is there another position.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've had a good look all round the flywheel as it passes the holes at the front flange of the block and i can find no holes at all so i will have a look at the starter motor area.

Cheers.

I take it you have found the hole on the block.
When i did my sisters car i put a 5mm bar in and crancked the car by hand to find the hole in the flywheel. Make sure the locating rod is rubbing the flywheel to feel when the rod finds the hole then remove and insert a 6 mill dowel. Its a pain in the arse to get first time.

To find the hole in the block look on the front of the block to the left of the exhaust and 150mm down from the head. There is a flat surface this is the location point for the pin to go through.as big hoody suggests push the pin against the flywheel whilst someone else turns the engine over for you .

Have been all round the flywheel many times. The only two holes i have found are where the Haynes manual suggest. One is a threaded hole approx 5mm, which is on the line of the starter ring of the flywheel (again no corresponding holes) and the other is just inside of the first and about 15mm in dia. If you put your finger through so it touches the flywheel the only indent i can feel is a machined slot running from the outer edge towards the centre, but no sign of a hole.
