Can anyone help me here?

My 307's airbag light is on. The dealer says it needs a spring switch, which is located behind the steering wheel - costing $985.00 (I'm in New Zealand). They describe it as a metal box located next to the airbag.

I've located a part at Peugeot online in the UK which can be delivered for about $600. They describe the part as a complete unit, including the stalk, called a "car 2000".

Is this the right part?

Also, can the part be mended instead?

I know of the underseat wiring problem, but have been told this is not the problem.

Nope, unlikely to be mended.

The part is a Comm2000 and controlls the AIrbag rotary switch, radio controlls, wipers and indicator functions, common problem on 307 smile
