Clio V6 - hints & tips
Discussion
So after procrastinating for months I think I've decided to get a Clio V6 and was after some hints & tips
I've taken a job a little further from my home than currently and so plan to use it as a daily driver (although only about 20 miles).... wise plan?
I'm planning on spending 10-12k, I'm assuming this will get me a Series 1... what should I be looking out for? Any specific weak areas the cars have?
(and equally if anyone knows of some tidy examples)
Thanks in advance!

There are a lot of owners on cliosport.net and v6clio.net who would probably be able to advise of the known faults - and maybe even a few cherished examples in the for sale threads.
Would love one myself one day - £12k should easily get you a tidy low mile phase 1 I would have thought... Easy swap to change the rear lights for phase 2 items to freshen up the back if you so wished as well.

Used to have a Clio V6 myself & can safely say the best place to get the info you're after is www.v6clio.net & register on the forum there All the people there are really helpful & clued up on the V6
Might be quite ambitous as a daily. I have a Mk1 on KW coilovers and the lack of steering lock and groun clearance make it difficult around town. Some parts are standard Renault but others can be quite expensive and hard to source. I just got new front disks and Renault wanted £350 + VAT without fitting! They are very hairy. My coilovers supposedly improve the handling but it is certainly deserves its reputation. In the winter the backend constantly steps out and it is very difficult to control it. It is great fun on track but the weight makes the back end swing very easily.
All told though it is a true petrolheads car, you forget all it flaws and enjoy the ridiculousness of it all. I would love to have watched the guy pitch the idea to the board and seen their faces- its great to know that in these modern times where we are imprisoned by rules and regulations, there are still people out their who want to make real cars for real enthusiasts.

I'd pretty much agree with all of that, although I did use my Mk1 as my only car for over a year and never had any problems. Well except for more 'moments' in the wet than felt healthy. All told though it is a true petrolheads car, you forget all it flaws and enjoy the ridiculousness of it all. Would agree with someone else's comments too re MK2. A much better resolved car and your budget doesn't seem that far off tbo. MK2 was also much better put together btw.
MK1 is still the car I remember most fondly of all the cars I've owned.

Got a funny feeling you own my mate Chris's old car that I mentioned earlier (V6 6EXY by any chance?) Lovely car you got there if so and the KW V3's def improve it over standard. All told though it is a true petrolheads car, you forget all it flaws and enjoy the ridiculousness of it all. I spent 10 days whizzing round the Alps following a mate in his Mk1 V6. I I know he is selling it very soon, not sure how much for though? All i will say is that it lives in a heated garage, is Concorse condition and has never been crashed ( I thought CAT D was a popular option, so many of them have it!!) Drop me a mail if you are serious about getting one, car is near Caterham, Surrey. If it was me, I would want the extra performance of the MK2 but I think a MK1 is THE one to have, i remember the shock of seeing one for the first time ooooooooooh luuuuuuuuurvley!

That's owned by a friend of mine, and I've been using it for the past few days while he's on holiday. Immense car, I couldn't recommend it enough, there's nothing at that price and age that feels anywhere near as special.Spotted this beaut in the classifieds
