The latter will probably tell you, like me, to save your money for an XSI.

Are they 3stud wheels?
I imagine a lot of people will say don't touch it and save the money.
However knowing that 80% of first cars do get modd'ed in some way I would say these are the cheapest options that will make a little difference.
Decent set of 14-15inch alloys (used if you can find them)
Lower the car 30-40mm on springs alone (about one/two click on the rear)
Get a decent CD Player & speakers
And fit a cheap universal air filter to give it a bit of a tone.
You could probably get all that for about £500-600 and I wouldn't spend anymore than that!
My first car was an Escort 1.6 bought it for £900 spent £1200 on it (full stainless steel exhaust, expensive suspension kit, expensive audio, GTi bodykit, 'performance filters' that make no difference, fitted neon lights in footwells and boot etc.) sold it for £1000 after 3 months of work being complete, you do the maths.
I have kept everycar standard since, I have learnt my lesson!

Spending cash on a 1.1 is a false economy. You will never make any money on it and you run the risk of wearing out parts due to larger wheels, lowering springs etc... These cars are just not well built enough to take these things, you'll see what i mean when you start rubbing your arches around tight corners.
Get rid, buy a Ralley or XSI and spend money on that and then keep it, that way you never loose any money and if you're sensible about it, can get as many years as you please worth of french driving experience.
"All Show and No Go!" or as the old skool ford lads say "Plastic not so fantastic".

Ok thanks guys, yeah I have already saved alittle bit of cash up. Hopefully going to get a Quicksilver for my next car maybe a 1.4 and then mod that. Im not wanted to modify it for performance, because knowing me I'd get arrested as soon as i put them on there. I used to race, so Everything is a race for me now!!. Anyway, Im thinking of some standard peugeot alloys, just to make it look better, then getting a nice bad boy afterward. Need to build up my NCB!!
If you're after standard alloy's, believe it or not your local dealer has probably got some sat around doing sweet FA, it's definatly worth dropping by and asking but have a rough idea of what your after first, Nimrod's seem to be popular these days.
Quicksilver's are cool - Don't ruin it by driving through halfrauds and making it look like a christmas tree on wheels.

Well a guy is offering me 100 pounds inc for a set of 14" Peugeot alloys, extremley cheap i think! But i do have some worries about them not fitting my car, they have 13" I believe on them at the moment, what do you guys think?
As far as I know 14's are fine - even standard on the GTi (does have bigger arches)My mate has a 106 (be it a GTi) with 15's and lowered 50mm no problem. As long as your not planning on dropping the car 1000000mm. 14's with a 30mm drop (should you lower it at all should be fine)
Give halfords a call, I used to work there and they have a massive book for wheel sizes on cars etc.
