My mate who doesnt really use the internet like me,has a problem with his megan scenic, this being the engine managment light come, when it was checked for faults the guy witht the laptop said its something to do with the inlet system checking/something to do with the air in the inlet and clearing it ??????? (Does that make any sence what so ever,i dont know?)

Also this morning when my mate started his car it instantly reved to 2000 rpm on its own accord,he pressed the accelerator to "blip" it to see if the revs would drop but apparently they did nothing, didnt rise or fall, until after he turned the car of then restarted it, after that all was fine but the enigine magment light was still on.

What bothers me i know there will be a fault code and the guy with the lap top didnt tell he what it was, insted gave the vague expalnation above.

The car is a 2.0lt petrol scenic

any help on this would be greatfully recieved as i feel he's going to be ripped off if i/we cant help him out.

cheers
steve.

Could be the coil packs - fairly common issue on Scenics & Meganes

would that give the symptoms as described?
Im fairly up to date with coilpacks on the scoob for example and IF they work in a similar way (and i think they do) i wouldnt have thought that would be the problem.

Thanks for answering anyway, i appreciate it.

cheers

No, coil packs generally would make the car idle uneasily and a lack of power and misfiring, as one or more of the cylinders would not be working. Anyway the emissions light would be on not the engine management, usually the emission light is on the rev counter, is on my megane coupe and the engine management light is in the centre with handbrake, serv, stop etc.
