My Mi16 lump I picked up from the scrapyard is missing the complete fuel rail and air flow meter.

I have a spare 1.9 8valve GTi AFM is that alright to use? And where can I get some injectors?

It'll run but badly. Calibrated for the 8v engine and air flow, not the 16v.

AFM off loads of late 80s or early 90s cars with Bosch Motronic injection will fit. For example, Vauxhall XE's are the same. Get yourself down to the local breakers and have a look. The Bosch part number ends with 202. Can't believe I remember that when I can't remember what I did yesterday...

I don't think the 8V AFM won't work with the 16V loom and ECU due to the 8V using Jetronic and the 16V using Motronic. The former's largely analogue, the latter's digital.

Right thanks for that guys, I'm thinking I may go for carbs as it will save some bother yet still produce good power. If anyone knows of a pair of 45mm going cheap give me a PM.

There was a manifold and twins on Ebay recently, i'd check to see if it's still on.

Try bike bodies should be cheaper and more plentiful.

If you can find the correct loom and ancillaries it should be very simple to get running. And it shouldn't be hard to find the correct bits...

Carb's are horribly crude. There's the faff involved with making the ignition work (and a bodged 8V dizzy will never be as good as a mapped ECU) and the requirement to get the carbs set up properly. The end result might liberate a few extra horse power and sound nice, but you'll have holes across the torque curve, a less reliable set-up and significantly worse fuel economy.
