Got this lovely wee car with brisk performance. 1.9 auto. Suddenly develops crap performance, engine feels like it's gonna die when I pull out at junctions, then seems to be ok. Misfires irregularly. Acceleration erratic, really flat sometimes, just doesn't sound the same but nothing I can put finger on.Still starts on first turn. Tried the usual... new plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm, leads, and that in itself was a huge nightmare, when the garages keep supplying the wrong parts! to no avail. Any CHEAP solutions? Trying to avoid dealer at all costs, might as well give them a blank cheque. Any advice appreciated folks.

This car uses the detuned 1.9 engine? 105bhp?

Try changing the ignition amp.

Sometimes cleaning it will work as well.

Thanks for the tips guys. In the end gave up and took it to Peugeot Ecosse who charged the pricely sum of 200 quid to fix broken wiring to the oxygen sensor and slack throttle linkage.
