Peugeot Expert/806 - bonnet release broken HELP!

A friend has a previous model Expert van (same shape as 806). Bonnet release, er, will not release.
Can anyone suggest a way of opening the bonnet from outside as the van needs some oil?
Apparently a local garage has tried at length to find a way in, without success.

Would appreciate any advice!

only way to get under these is by going in throught the front of the engine from underneath and grabbing the cable

Ahh, yes. The cable failed on our 806 and it was a right arsefarse.

We ended up going thought the front, cuting (non visably with bonnet down) the plastic fronty bit, and hashing it open and sorting out the mess.

I wasnt really involved, but its was a absolute nightmare apprently. I'll take some photos tonight if it would be a help as im going home anyway. Slight damage to paintwork occured too.
