172 cup pack clio problem
Discussion
Ok purchased a clio 172 with a cup pack on the weekend.
A few niggle problems to deal with most electrical (cough french cough) but there is a slight problem when putting the cars power down it wants to drift right a little.
Now i thought hmm probely wishbone, suspension or tracking problem. Got my garage to look at it today and his result was nothing wronge with it. He cheacked everything. He recons that the car has such power for a small vehicle that this is probely why its drifting.
So my question is ... is this correct do they all do this?

Mine torque steers to the left(not the right!) under power in the first couple of gears. They all do that. Also it does tramline a bit which is normal too, particularly for the Cup with more aggressive suspension set up.
I find once my front tyres are approx 50% worn tramlining and torque steer increases in dry conditions. I run Michelin Pilot Exalto 2 tyres.

Sorry but it was my first time of owning a 172 I should have called it "full fat version" as its a 172 with the cup additions aka cup pack
Confused I am. I didn't think that was possible. I guess someone could have bought the cup suspension for a full fat 172 but it wasn't ever a factory option.Edited by bones33 on Wednesday 11th June 14:31
No such thing as a 172 with a cup pack.
172:Climate control, leather/alcantara interior, xenons, auto-wipers/lights.
172cup: Mondial blue or iceburg silver, speedline turini wheels, wider track, no abs, no xenons, rarely has cc.
You can get a 182 with cup packs, but not a 172. If yours has the wheelbarrow style exhaust it's a 182, if the exhaust is hidden it's a 172.

Well what ever dont realy matter at the end of the day.
You're right. What grated was that it was obvious what you meant to anyone who took the time to read your OP and subsequent posts. Warren obviously just took one look at the title and decided to get one up on you.

If the 172cup came with aircon then mines a cup but I thought it did not.
AC was an option on the end of line 172 Cups, along with silver paint. One easy way to tell is if you have headlight washers it is definately not a 172 Cup.ahh it does have washers so its not a cup thanks for clearing that up for me
as for the problem with the drifting that was sorted. It turned out when I purchased the car the wheels where missmatched. I did not notice this when I purchased it and tbh would not have thought it would make that big a diff.
The tyre guy moved the michellens to the back and the uniroyals to the front instead of having them on one side. This sorted the problem out straight away was amazed by it.
The reason why I said it had cup packs blar blar is when I brought it the person selling it told me it had them and the car had the cup badge on the side piller. So did not think anything about it as I knew the 182 came with a cup pack option. Oh well only a loss of .3 seconds :P

Sounds like thats the case unless they've been retro fitted (which I've never heard of).Other Cup details are non-xeon headlights, multi spoke Turini alloys, no spare wheel, no leather on seats, no rear seat headrests.....I could go on!

Bloody hell! That sounds very dodgy, espicially given 172s' are somewhat twitchy sometimes. Not surpised it did'nt feel right. ETA - Did you insure it as a 172 Cup? If so you could have done yourself over as they are generally more expensive to insure (although I would have thought a number plate check would have prevented this mistake)
