Going to have a look at one later, don't really need another car but I suppose it'll be far cheaper than sticking the missus on the insurance on my BMW.

It's a white 3 door, K or L reg IIRC. Being sold by a friend of a friend for "about £200" I've been told. Anything in particular to look out for?

Knackered rear beam would be the biggest issue. The rear wheels would look like / \ if its shot. Might also be worth checking for corroded brake / fuel lines.

I've got a spare reconditioned 1.6 GTi beam off my track car (now upgraded to a 309 beam) so I could always fit that I suppose it'll fit.

It will fit nicely - Anthony on 205GTI drivers fitted GTI suspension to his old smoker.
To add the Dturbo will be quite quick.

Just not when its cam shaft is bust in 2 places!

Some came with 1.6 GTi suspension as standard anyway, D-Turbos I think. As opposed to the STDT which is the same engine.

Right so went to look at it today. It wasn't a turbo as I'd be expecting, just a boggo 1.8 diesel 'Trio' limited edition no less (poverty spec)

Good points are it's pretty rust free, especially considering it's 125k, bad news is been off the road for the last 5 years and wouldn't start (bloke said it would start fine when I rang him so didn't bother to take any tools or jump pack)

Even if we can't get it going I feel it may be worth laying up in storage somewhere to use the shell to re-shell a GTi in the future. Are the shells the same for poverty spec and GTi?

Front and rear wings are different as, I think, are the doors.
