Hi i am just looking for any information regarding the gearbox on the clio 197 f1 edition. I was wondering if any came with the later revised gearbox that the Clio Cup has (with the longer 5th and 6th gears). Also can anyone tell me if the cup is very different to drive (better) to the F1 edition? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It all depends on when the R27 was built. Anything built from November 2007 has the new gearbox.

We have had both an original 197 and a 2008 car and without a doubt the new car is quieter on the motorway. The trade off being it doesn't go like a scolded cat when you floor it on a motorway in 6th, which the old car did.

With reference to the Cup V R27, driving I doubt it. The R27 came with Recaro's as standard, but an option on the cup. We have a Full Fat 197 with cup chassis and it is no different than the R27 demo we drove prior to purchase.

A cup is 20kgs lighter and I doubt very much you will feel that difference, plus of course you loose kit and some of the better quality materials in the cabin.
