182 Cup warning light?
Discussion
Whilst driving up to Nottingham & about 1 hour into the journey a warning light came on & stayed on throughout the duration of the journey there & back which is approx 6 hour journey in total. The car did not miss a beat at all & drove fine. I have since found out that the warning light in question is the Exhaust gas monitor warning light & according to the manual it could cause serious damage if you continue to drive the car. Has anyone had this problem aswell & was it expensive? Any advice welcome.
It could be a bad batch of fuel, perhaps the supply was from the bottom of the tank, or had too much water in it.
Our first 197 had that light when we filled it with Tesco 99 ron for the first time.
I would suggest calling the dealer, but i'm guessing it probably needs refilling after a long journey like that, so perhaps try a different garage and also try super unleaded. If you don't want the expense of BP Ultimate or V Power, then I can recommend Sainsbury's Super. The clios' do like the stuff.

Cheers for the advice, i have since filled it back up using bp as appose to texaco & the light is still on.
I have a magnex exhaust & wondering if this is anything to do with it although the exhaust was fitted long before i bought the car & this is the first time its come on since ive owned it.

Boobles, I've had this light come on before on my 172. It coincided with one of the hangers for my exhaust (just after the cat IIRC) shearing off. Pretty sure it was caused by a lambda sensor or some such getting rattled by the loose exhaust. I got a mate with an ECU diagnostic box thing (plugs in and reads fault codes, and allows you to turn them off) to switch off the warning light and had the hanger fixed. The light has never come back on since.
FWIW most people who decat a 172/182 drive around with this light on all the time. I don't think it signifies harm been done to your car, rather the trees

Cheers mate, im getting it checked out tomorrow for peace of mind & depending on the outcome i may get a second opinion. I have the MOT at the end of June & obviously need the emissions to be sorted.FWIW most people who decat a 172/182 drive around with this light on all the time.
