Hi guys – I have a Clio 172 Sport (02 plate at 66k miles) and Renault recommend all timing belts are changed at the upcoming service. Have phoned my local dealer and they are quoting in excess of £700 for the belt changes (cam belt, power steering belt and a couple of other auxiliary belts), which means a bill for over £1,000 including the service!

Is this the going rate? Does anyone know any specialists in South East London / Kent which may be cheaper?

Cheers in advance, Rich

Lookup Rentech in Portsmouth if you fancy a day out.

Wont cost £1k. What 172 have you got? The cup is much easier to change as it has no air con.

Rentec may be a bit too far (Portsmouth). Although I trundle down there from Reading! They charged me £350 to change the cambelt on my 172 Cup (as 172FF says this is slightly cheaper than normal 172 as no air-con to get in the way).

Mark Fish perhaps? IRRC they are near or in London. Good rep like Rentec.

Great - thanks for the tips guys - will give both a bell tomorrow. Have to say, the A roads down to Portsmouth are tempting!
