They aren't bad cars, but the 306 isn't much more to insure. A 306 D-turbo is group 5, and although it will be older/higher mileage it is better built and better equipped.
I concur. Also if you have over size 8 feet you will struggle to drive the 106 as the pedals are very close together. 406turbo said:

- IM on my second, and we've just bought one for my sister to learn in.
The first was a 1.6 wreg merdian which my dad had from 6months old ex-hire.
- I bought it off him with 140k of gentle moterway miles, and did another 7.5 driving it like i stole it. Before im managed to wright it of on a muddy country road at chrismas (anyone else see that coming?).
- Being one of the later cars, and a merdian, it had all the spec. Half leather, fully colour co-ordinated trim, ac and cc, auto screens. The works. And with 140k on the clock it drove like new, at had a book price of around £8-900. Good private i would have been looking at £1100 tops maybe. No issues with the car all, clutch was done at about £130k but nothing else at all really.
Ive now got a 1.8 vreg thats otherwise identical. I paid £1800 for it with 31.5k on the clock. Drives very well, but its not chalk and cheese from the 1.6 tbh even tho its a diffrent base engine (16v xu not 8v tu)
My sister has a wreg Hdi merdian which is also good to drive and was £2200 with 80K
Older ones are well under £1000

Ive got a Quicksilver at the moment, its easy to look after and theres loads of spare parts knocking around. 106's are nice and basic, if you look after them they will look after you.
But if you want something for carting your mates around, theres not much space...

I've got size 13s and have never had any problem driving my 106. Never understood why everyone always goes on about the pedals.
I think its just one of the first things I noticed when I bought my car, compared to my clio. Its not difficult to adapt tho. So have you made a choice yet tablechair??

Have a go in a 205, the difference is immense. As I said in my girlfriends 106 I have to drive with my toes, in my 205 I put my foot right on the pedal without catching 2 at once.
I've got a 205 too. I much prefer the 205 in almost every respect, but I don't think the pedal box in the 106 is anywhere near as bad as people make out.Gassing Station | French Bred | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
