Another daft question for those more knowledgeable than me.
I wired up a new heater fan in my 205 GTI and it still didn't work so on to trying the new relay but couldnt get the centre dash where the controls are off without breaking half my brittle french dash.

Is there an easier way that i'm missing??

The heater dials come out quite easily, but there isn't a relay behind there.

From memory, if you remove the coin tray you'll see a couple of screws. Remove those and then try again.

I thought all the control relays for the ancillery circuits were on the back of the fuse board? There are a few in the engine bay but i'm sure they're ECU related items. Have you looked it up in the Manual of Lies?

As said there is no relay for the heater. Heater control knobs pull off and teh screws are behind. THis gets you one loyare in but you then need to get out the moulding behind. From memory this is a bit more involved but not excessivly difficult.

The heater is controlled by a resistive track on the moulding behind, you should see what I mean when you get the knobs + trim off the front.

Ah yes sorry its not a relay it's the resister behind the controls. As mine is a phase 1 pug im guessing its a bit more difficult to get the controls off?

I'm trying this because a new fan didn't work so im guessing this will be the problem.

Have you bench tested the fan?

No actually, good point. I have two so it would be a worth while process.
