A colleague is getting rid of his 309 Gti as it will need some welding for the next MOT in July so he's letting me have it for £200. I want to fit the rear beam and front wishbones to my 205, take the engine out for spares for mine, then sell the wheels (already have a spare set) headlights and stuff on ebay to recoup some costs then get the shell weighed in for scrap.

Is there anything else worth taking from the 309 apart from the front and rear suspension?

PM me if anyone's after any other 309 bits (it's white BTW)

You probably know this but take the drive shafts as well. Some people do "get away" with using the 205 driveshafts with the 309 wishbones but in theory at least they are 10mm per side to short.

i dont know if its even possible, but id really really like to retro fit the 309 rear window cables to my 205 if you strip it, could you make a mental note of if it might be possible or not for me please!

No probs Ben, not sure if it's a 3 or 5 door though (I've only seen it once before) if the former then they're yours. Will PM you when I get it which shouldn't be long.

If your up for the work i think you can swap the whole sub frame, anti - roll bar set up in one hit, does mean engines out though.

Front door cards fit in a 205 also.
I'm assuming that it has PAS? You'll do ok if you keep the rack, lower UJ, pump, ram and especially all the high pressure hoses.

That sounds like a huge job, and I'm not sure I can see the benefits either.

Except AFAIK you can get the sub-frame out without removing the engine, just the engine lower mount needs to be disconnected, the two upper mounts are to the bodywork. Not entirely sure if the sub-frames are different though. I have never heard of a 205 owner swapping for a 309 sub-frames in many years on the 205GtiDrivers forum (this is probably the best place for such questions by the way).

The steering arms are slightly longer so the rack might be useful but not necessary as the 205 track rods can just be wound out to suit the wishbones (not done this myself). Other small stuff, like boot struts I think are suitable and silly stuff like fuses, relays, bulbs, Heater matrix(?), wheels/tyres, pedals(?), horn (?), seat runners(?).

I scrapped a 205 GLD recently and TBH you'd be surprised how common a lot of stuff is that you don't realise until you start stripping it down.

Picking it up on Wednesday 9th hopefully.

Does anyone know if the distributor is the same as the 205? I took mine to have the carbs tuned up today but they couldn't do it casue the rotor arm is damaged on mine causing all the power to come in at once - from 4000 to 4600rpm it goes from 50 to 100 bhp at the wheels (like a huge VTEC jump!) but it can't be doing the car any good, also they can't retard the ignition enough so it needs a new distributor. Anyone have any ideas how much they are for a brand new one out of interest?

All engine parts are identical.
Never heard of a distributor on these failing so am not sure of a price.

Thanks Simon, it's just I remember the Mi16 having different ignition. Apparently they're about £200 and I should be paying that for the whole car which is nice.

Got it today, have to say it's really nice - I wouldn't mind one as a daily driver some time. If any one wants any bits then please email through my profile.
