Help Citroen Tech problem
Discussion
Hi - posted a topic a while back about resetting the "arrange service" light on a Picasso.
Short story - took car for a service and a few weeks later the service spanner and "arrange service" (on starting up) came on. Took it back to the garage as advised by Phers and discovered that they couldn't reset it. Mechanic persuaded me that it was "only a spanner" and not worth bothering about.
So comming to sell the car this weekend I took it back to citroen for some recall work on the suspension and asked for them to reset the light (£25!!!!!) They said that they Cannot do it!!!! Asked why and was told that they would be a fault on the Display panel (£508 +VAT + Fitting) - went to scrapyard and got one for £65. No difference. Obviously this could have the same fault but (i think) unlikely.
So then a couple of questions:-
1/ If there is a fault somewhere I expect it to be computer based - where is this and is it possible to swap for a scrapyard one without causing a whole host of problems?
2/ Anybody any ideas on further investigation.
3/ Why don't Citroen tell the truth?
Help me please..............

Also got a Picasso and recently reset the spanner myself - no special tools required just pressing various buttons.
I can't help with your problem but I have always found the forum below full of good technical advice. However I am aware that any new display panel needs to be programmed to the new vehicle to work correctly.

Good luck

re-setting the service light on my brothers saxo used to be a case of pressing the button on the dash and turning ignition key in a certain sequence (can't remeber exactly)
don't know if it'll be the same for a picasso though- you might find the answer on a citreon forum though, if attempting to re-set it or set your second hand one is the idea

I know the proceedure for resetiing the service light (I think) - with the ignition off hold down the 0000 button and turn the key to the last position and wait for the 10sec countdown. Done this on both units, but no change on either of the displays. This suggests the fault is not where citroen said and that there is still a problem - hence why it won't reset.
(Sorry for posting in the main section - just wanted to catch a few PHers that wodn't go trawling the French section)

Wow - really kind offer thanks, If I was keeping it then I'd take you up on your offer, but as I'm letting it go I'll let someone else do the leg work.
Bit of further info though - I found that when I was turning the key to the last stage I was getting "stop oil pressure Low" alarm up. This was obviously not the case as they don't have an electical oil pump do they(?). So I found the switch and disconnected it in case it was "blocking" the service reset. No luck. Will buy oil, filter, and pressure switch tomorrow, and just hope that I can sell it without too many questions.
Megamaniac - are you a citroen guy or auto electrician?
Just wondered what your thoughts were -if its not the display as Citroen suggests does that mean the next step is a new ECU?

A citroen specialist ,it could just be a sensor fault that is telling the ecu it needs fixing probably emissions based .offer still stands and i live opposite work, so early one evening wouldn't be a problem and wednesdays i work on my 2cv race car til 10pm ish so you could come then if you want.
