Good car, bad car - 406 Coupe V6?
Discussion
As my BMW is getting more and more track focused, i'm in the market for something a bit more road friendly and have a 406C V6 in mind.
My main questions are:
What MPG can i expect from the 3.0? I'm guessing 30 is a distand dream
What's the auto like? Is it a glorious waftfest like the one in my old range rover, or is it a jerky collection of 4 random gears which it consistenly manages to select the wrong one of?
I have a vision of soft squishy mile muncher with regards to ride quality. Will i be sorely dissapointed when i find rock hard "sports" suspension?
Lastly, will £1500 consistently find me an absolute shed?
Cheers all

Dont do it! My brother in law bought a auto 2002 fully loaded model a few years ago, in 2.5 years of ownership he had it on the rd for a total of 8 months. They are a beautiful looking car and are pretty good to drive but are so overly complicated you would have to get used to warning lights and various other problems on a daily basis.
Examples...
3 sets of coil packs
1 set head gaskets
2 engines (first replacment was faulty and only did 200 miles before failing)
1 gearbox
1 ecu
1 airbag control module
various warning light problems requiring resets (i started it on a ramp once and it shut done the abs and traction control systems which i couldnt reset with my EOBD machine so had to go to dealer)
1 brembo brake caliper
1 set of wheels (old ones corroded very badly)
1 exhaust (including cat)
1 set of rear lights (filled with water)
1 headlight bulb (xenon so lots of money)
various sensors, abs,engine,gearbox
1 Climate control unit
And the list goes on, but to be fair most of the above work was done by Peugeot under manufacturers warranty and i have met people that have owned and enjoyed these cars but they tend to have owned the earlier lower spec models (less to go wrong)
Good luck!
