Does anybody know which parts are interchangeable between a Citroen Xsara VTS, which I've just bought, and other Peugeots with the same engine etc?

I ask because not many people make parts for the Xsara, but the tuning range for the 205 and 306 is massive. There are a couple of bits I'd like to fit, and I was wondering if anyone knows if they will fit my car...

K&N panel filter - from a Pug 309 GTI - pretty sure this will fit though

Quickshift kit from a 205 GTI - this I'm not so sure of - anyone know if the gearbox in the Xsara is the same as the 1.9 205??? Or is it the one from the 306 XSI? Or something else?

Brakes - am I right in thinking that aftermarket discs and pads for a 306 GTI-6 will fit my Xsara?

Throttle body - seen some gas-flowed and fettled ones for a 306 GTI-6 on ebay - would these fit my car?

Only picked the thing up yesterday lunchtime and already I'm plotting away, hehehe biggrin

306 Gti-6 has the same engine as the VTS – gearbox is 5speed though but interchangeable with the rest of the BE3 range of gearboxes found in many Pugs & Citroens (providing you use the right flywheel and clutch)although not the same as a 205/309GTi box.

Only parts interchangeable with a 205/309 are the rear brakes (identical AFAIK). You can fit the bigger 306/VTS brakes (which I’d imagine are the same) to a 205/309. 307/206 etc brakes will probably fit the VTS too.

One for a VTS - I presume that it will be identical to a 306 but it depends on what kind of quick-shift you are after.

That's the trouble, I don't know of anyone who makes one for a VTS, that's why I was asking if any of the ones designed/intended for other cars would fit.

I've been told by Griffiths Engineering (http://www.griffiths-engineering.co.uk/) this morning that the one they make for a 306 (non-GTI6) will fit. Anyone fitted one of their quickshifts before?

VTS uses the same gearbox more-or-less as any 5 speed 306, so an XSi (for example) quickshift should fit no probs.

Not heard anything about the product mentioned, though.

I've ordered one of the 306 items, will have to see what that's like when it turns up...

The newer GE QS attached to one of the short actuating rods; not a replacement to the "L" bracket. They are adjustable too. Had both types on 205's and prefered the newer model.

I have considred a quickshift for my Saxo VTS, but Im not sure if it will damage what are already very weak gearboxes???!

I have a stiffened gearbox mount which stops the 'rocking' of the box in gears, also makes for a crisp change! But quickshift and stiff mounts may just put a lot of pressure on it, its already leaking through the neardside shaft so requires new sleaves I have been told?

How do quickshifts work?

Quickshifts won't cause any extra stress on the gearbox. They simply change the geometry of the gear linkages so you don't have to move the gearstick so far between gear changes.

A stiffened gearbox mount won't affect the life of your gearbox either. It's the internals on the MA gearboxes that are weak, and the best way to avoid problems is to take it easy and avoid to many full bore launches!

As for the leaking, new driveshaft seals should sort it. It's not a difficult job, a couple of hours for a competent mechanic and £15 worth of parts and oil.
