Anyone thinking of buying a 306 GTi-6, there is one currently on Autotrader for £2495 near Maidstone, black 61k miles '98 car being sold by Kingswood Cars.

Having viewed it with a mate, where the seller told me it was 100% clean and original, I put a deposit down - then went home and HPI'd it and it's a Cat C write off.

Seller claimed he had told me that the car came to him with a flood damaged engine (lie) and that he had swapped it for another engine from a car he was breaking (never said anything of the sort) and that he couldn't guarantee the mileage or that any of the work in the ad had actually been done. But claimed he'd told me all this (which he hadn't, I had a mate with me at the time I viewed it, and he agrees he never said anything of the sort) and refused to return my deposit.

So, in short, I've been had, but don't let yourselves get caught out too! :-(

I'd rather get my deposit back first, to be honest, but that sounds like a solid plan B biggrin

Already reported online, awaiting some kind of response...

Could be a blessing in disguise, just picked up a minty-mint 2002 Xsara VTS instead... biggrin
