Morning all. Am i right in saying that a 36k service on a Clio 182 Cup involves the auxillary belt being changed? I have asked a "Renault" specialist local to me & he said NO it doesnt need changing!
Im sure i have seen/heard somewhere that they do need changing, any ideas please?

Yup, be careful on this. Some of the dealers will swear blind a RS needs a service every 18k miles and the belts need doing every 72k. Thats old out of date info. You are correct the 36k service is a biggy. It does include the aux belt.

Go and have a search on cliosport.net there is loads of info on whats done by a member called eddie.

Thank you for this info thumbup . I dont understand why some specialists would say that it doesnt need doing at 36k.

Yep definately should be done. A Renault dealership failed to do it on mine when the previous owner had the 36k done. How far off 5 years old is your car? May be worth having the cambelt done at same time.

Very common for it not to be done. I think it may stem from non-RS Clios not requiring it until 72k along with the cambelt, or just some out of date info out there.

The car is a late 2005. It has done 29k but with the amount of miles i do each year, the 36k service is just around the corner.

Yes how about the tensoiner and the roller pulley These also have to be changed come in a kit form If the tensioner is worn it will lay on the belt on one side causing the belt to break up! And can go in to the cam belt BIG MONEY

No offence chap, but got a fair bit of knowledge about these cars, on my 3rd, do most servicing myself. The guys that did the service prep and service gt racers, 2 911 gt3 racers in with mine. Renault don't tend to know much with these cars, I've been told by many dealers that the service interval's are 12k, had the wrong grade oil used at 2 services (hence me doing it now), and that my brake pads were 70% worn. The pads and disks that I had fitted the day before. I was watching the service as it was done, and took the old parts with me.

They are 12k (typo?) confused

You're right that the dealers generally have a very poor knowledge of these cars.

So whos right & whos wrong? I have been told by a Renault specialist & dealer that the "Auxillary/Alt" belt does NOT need replacing at 36k service... Why are they so out of date with what needs doing? Im beggining to wonder where to take my 182 for the 36k service as i want somebody who actually knows what needs doing.

Yes it does need doing mate I am just saying you need to take the front bumper off and the head lamp out But I am being told different I am in touch with YOZZA SPORT they are meant to be getting back to me
But to be honest there is not a lot of wear on the parts i take off
If they do this while you wait I am taking a 182 down there This is a 4 hour + job
