Which 206 Hdi to go for, and how to tune.

Seen a few of these kicking around with attractive GTi kits on them.

Which is the most powerful / sporty model, how much bhp do they have, and what can these be reliably chip tuned to.

Any bad points I should bare in mind?

2.0 8V HDI, as seen in the 306 HDi

90bhp as standard, mine is mapped to 120bhp (supposedly, though i have not verified this it feels about right)
cost me £180 from SP tuning and it has made the car a lot better
mine has the GTI kit and is of better spec than the 206 HDi, might be worth a look

There are 3 HDi,s in the 206 in 1.4, 1.6 16v and 2.0 versions. The 1.6 16v is supposed to be a very good unit with 110bhp as opposed to the 2 litres 90bhp.
The 1.6 also comes in GTi spec.

Yeah, the 1.6 is a 16v engine, better economy, and 110bhp standard, and will remap to 130-140bhp afaik.

I'm sure there is a 2.0 16v Hdi too, with 136bhp standard.

Or the older Hdi90's will remap to 120bhp, or if you spend about £400 on an intercooler will remap to 155bhp or so with a decat and upped boost.

Loads of options really.

Have a look over at http://www.tdciforum.co.uk/index.php lots of people with 206 Hdi's over there who have tuned them to various levels from 120bhp > 180bhp+

Don't think they ever did a 136bhp HDi in the 206?

Its fitted to the 307 XSi.
