heya everyone, just thought id ask for some help with my 306. i have a 306 2.0 xsi which ive spent alot of money on. however recently my head gasket went and as i stripped the block ive found that the engine isnt in good nick so i have decided to replace it with possibly a gti-6 lump. i wanna make it into a bit of a weapon and am wondering what kinda power you cud expect from a tuned gti-6 lump and what the best resonable mods are to do to them..... any info on mods or power gains would be great!!
thanks

ok, well any ideas on what power it wud be running with a standard gti-6 engine with my current mods off my xsi ive already got a full system exhaust with de-cat and a gti-6 induction kit i know it wont add much but am wondering if anything...... reason being is ive been serchin the net and ive heard figures of 200bhp without throttle bodies or cams! is that possible? i spose im after building a bit of a track/street weapon but dont really have the money for throttle bodies!!
oh ok that sounds like the sort of thing im after anywhere that would set that up for me?? my target is the 200bhp mark really and i know its a stupid question but roughly how fast are they with around 200bhp under the bonnet? the reason i ask is my mate has a 106 mk1 with a vts engine init and to bhe fair its pritty dam quick but he reckons a 306 will never be that quick cause there heavy
The GTi-6 engine is pretty good standard but is still quite tunable. Cams are a good start with a remap or aftermarket management to get the best out of them. The throttle body can be enlarged a bit for that little extra. A proper flowed head can also benefit but with standard valve sizes as they are plenty large enough.
Its worth noting Longman got 260bhp out of there touring car engines using modified standard inlet manifolds, there was one on ebay not long ago, so there is no need to go down the individual throttle bodies route.
Also try looking on http://www.306gti6.com for more info.

The standard ports/valves are good for over 200bhp so dont bother getting head work done. Set of fast road cams and a remap should see you pushing 200. Then you could look at some head work, touring car/ported manifold, ported throttle bodies. But anything more tha 200bhp and you should start looking at changing internals really.
