hi there people this is me first car ever that i want to majouly mod so be kind and go easy with me.

i know that you can bolt a mi16 straight on to the original engine mounts of a pug 205 1.9 gti, but can you do it with a pug 1.6 gti, how much work is involved if it doesnt fit, does it still use all the same wiering and hoses. i know that you can also use the gear box from the 1.6 because it is a fovourite for sprint because of the shorter ratios.

same questions but for a 405 2.0 8v turbo conversion into the pug 205 1.6 gti

I would imagine you would just need to change the mounts over + all the other associated bits that go with the 1.6
Same for the 2.0turbo, it has been done before, have a look on the PSOOC

Ref the wiring;not sure as I would imagine at the very east you would need the engine harness & ECU

But someone will probably be along in a minute & say im talking a load of bollox & its much more involved

No difference between the 1.6 and 1.9, but I think you need to swap some mounts for the MI16 conversion.

Yep, only difference is in the Crank (and rods?) as it is just a shorter stroke version of the same engine IIRC

My 205 was built on a 1.6 due to the extra strength, stiffness, and less weight of having a original non-sunroof shell.

Yep, just crank and rods as far as I know - I believe the 1.9 can be easily identified as it has a spacer between the block and the sump.

All mounting points on the chassis are identical. The lower and gearbox mount is the same (upgrade the lower bush for Group N). You'll need an Mi16 top mount as the 8v is completely different.

I'm just on the final stages of this conversion. I bought an Mi engine bare and had to source all the parts afterwards, i'd advise buying a 405 Mi complete if you can to save alot of hassle, I've gone down the uprated bits and bobs route so have bought alot of extras but AFAIK, if it's all in good condition you should have everything you need in a 405's engine bay to drop straight into a 205.

Obviously, new mounts are advised but not always necessary. Also it'd be wise to get the Mi and 205 engine looms wired together for better running, although you can do it the dizzy adapter way.

Have a butchers on 205gtidrivers for comprehensive info on the conversion and club discounts from selected suppliers.

The roof panel has no structural strength... Only advantage is losing the weight of the sunroof, which is exactly the place you don't want the weight to be.

Mi16 conversion is easy enough, engine fits fine on standard mounting points, although fit the Group N ones like Simes says, only minor issue is the exhaust manifold, a 4-2-1 manifold is best, and the wiring which involves changing about 6-7 wires. Use the Mi16 box if you can, it suits the engine best for everyday driving.
