HELP 306 Hunting
Discussion
Hi,
I wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the Technical section, so I put it in both!
As you can see from the title my 306 1.8 16v 1999 is hunting, intermitently.
I found out that the ICV is a common suspect so changed it, and still no joy, I then changed the crankshaft sensor, MAP sensor, potentiometer, battery, coolant temp sensor, and paid for a diagnostic plug in job at a specialist, and nothing! I have been told that my ECU is okay, so is my timing, the lambda sensor passed on the MOT and I had the alternator checked when I changed the battery.
I have heard that my car is prone for coil pack problems, but I'm no expert!?
I don't know what else might be causing the car to hunt, what's so wierd about it is that it is intermittent. It will sit and idle for say 15mins then hunt and idle and then hunt and idle etc. The car drives and performs extremely well.
The only other thing I had noticed (not sure if it's related) is that under 2000 revs whilst driving the car can feel slightly jumpy.
I do hope someone out there may have some suggestion to what on earth my car is doing, it's driving me crazy!
Thanks in advance!
Ashley.

Did They change the engine management temp sensor? theres two.. one for the gauge and one for the ecu, We had one in work the other day, on the diagnostics it was reading -40 and revved to 2k and then would jump up to 88 ish and ran fine changed that and it was perfect, common problem as mine used to do it too

Throttle position sensor has been changed.
I changed the coolant temp sensor (green), which when I bought it I was told it fed the ecu.
I have checked other sensors, and ran the car with them unplugged and the car still does it. I also checked my plugs again to see if there was any burnt marks on the plastic and check for soot etc and they looked perfect.
It's an absolute mystery!
