Hey chaps, just trying to solve the saga of me buying a new car, I've not been able to decide for quite some time, so I bought a mint Renault 5 GT Turbo (phase II) in the meantime.

Due to my job, I can buy tax free cars, so I'm quite keen on buying new/nearly new.

What are peoples opinions of these cars? Anyone owned one before?

Shirley you want an R26 and not a 225? Currently the drivers hot hatch of choice, some doubt over build quality though. Can be had for around £15k new at the car supermarkets.

Not sure that you can still get the deals online or via supermarkets anymore. If buying new it would be a R26.
Build quality; it's a nippy Renault with room for 5 people, something has to give, pay your money take your choice. That said, I've done over 17k miles in mine and have no problems with squeeks or rattles.

There is loads of info related to pre and post purchase on meganesport.net

Yeah, my Clio Trophy is really dull - I don't know how I manage to stay awake on the lanes when going to work....
