Hi everyone,
The girlfriend is after a cheap, cheap car to get her driving up to speed. she passed her test years ago but has never really driven much and is a bit scared of pranging my car.
I suggested spending £200-300 on a banger, driving it for 3 months then sell it on or scrap it.
What seems to be coming up is mid nineties 1.2 clios which would be perfect but I hear they like to snap cambelts. Any ideas how easy it is to check the cambelt? I know they should be changed every 30k or something like that...
Anybody know if there is anything else to look out for?
Thanks!!

The best tech'y in the world can't check a cam belt,if he ok's it be it on his head,if you think it need's checking it need's changing,1,2 clio top timing belt cover is cast alloy as the engine mount bolts to it,there a simple enough belt to do,cooling systems can corrod up bad on these and the water rail into water pump can corrode though.
