Is there a space saver tyre available for this car as the standard foam is not acceptable imho.

Should explain that my wife is test driving an 04 today which I am keen for her to buy but she insists on a spare wheel. On reading up I think it comes with 2 foam cans .Is there even a tyre well in this model or have the suspension mods ruled it out.

You could buy a spare wheel. Or buy some AA cover for the year.

I wouldn't rule out buying a car just because it didn't come with a spare.

Personally I'd rather my Mrs knew how to use a can of tyre weld and a 12v pump than she tried to change a tyre on the motorway, or waited on the hard shoulder for the AA to arrive.

Had a flat on a Honda Stream a couple of years ago and used a can of Holts tyre weld to attempt a juick fix to get me home.Failed completely to reinflate and ended up changing the wheel with the good old fashioned spare.Advised by tyre fitters that the foam meant tyre now scrap.

You can clean the tyres out and they can be repaired. Had it done before. Not you personally, but the tyre fitters. If they can be arsed.

If it was as bad as that then no manufacturer would use it, but more and more cars are now coming without a spare.

No Spare in my Clio Cup (for weight saving purposes hehe) Renault supply two cans of tyre foam instead.

I've only once had occasion since 92 that i've had to put a spare on due to flat tyre. Guess I must be fairly lucky, though i did get a 1.5 inch screw embedded in the rear tyre of my Griff earlier this year. Was lucky though as i felt it go in so was able to get to a tyre place and have it removed repaired. Lost virtually no air thank goodness!

There is no spare wheel so comes with tyre weld. Explanation of why there is no spare wheel can be found when you look underneath and see the size of the back box its huge

Could you not just buy a space saver to keep in the boot? When I had the 182, I bought a spare wheel to keep in the boot, not v. practical but better than being stranded.

Wife bought 207 cc which has a spacesaver spare.Yesterday had a blowout on front nearside tyre caused by pothole in Co Galway.Tyre was shredded. If she had bought the 206 180 gti the can of foam would have been useless and my wife and her mom would have been stranded on an isolated mountainside.MANUFACTURERS SHOULD HAVE MORE GENUINE INTEREST IN THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFETY.
