Just purchased a Scenic and the display showing time, radio info and outside temperature is not illuminated.
How the hell do you change the bulb? It is working as I can just make it out.

Hmmm. Not too bad then. Do you have to remove the whole top or can you stretch your arm in there?

the dash top is only held on with a few 20 torx screws and the top is in 2 section's if you look by the demist venting there are a few in the vent and remove the speaker + grills you will find 2 more remove the stereo.
pull down the a pillar trims and rubber seal once you have removed the screws push down gently on the dash top and pull towards you the dash top has hook's underneath which locate it, the speedo binacle will stay put but the surround will come away,ps think there is 2 screws by the column cowling... with the dash top handy to have a spare pair of hands to re fit though you can do it on your own
just make sure you have taken out all the screws before you yank it off
im sure you will manage it m8 it will all become clear as you crack on

Thank you. Sounds quite a lengthy process for a 1st time job. But I will give it a go one DRY weekend.
