i dont know if anyhtin like this has already been posted....PC is too slow to do a search at the mo

Having major major hassles locking my car....306 DT 97 P reg (Phase/Mark1)

the remote button on the key doesn't always lock it, which i can cope with but before i was able to lock the car with the key in the lock....now i cant.
All i get is it will lock then unlock straight away, for about 5times, then i get nothing at all from the central locking. After a while central locking will work again, but still getting the same, lock and unlock. After about 10mins of trying it will lock.....any ideas???

Give all the lock mechanisms (on the inside) a liberal dousing with wd or similar use lots ,it is normally caused by the central locking not being able to overcome the stiffness of the door lock,or possibly but unlikely in this case a broken wire. The system disables itself after a few uses so the fact it stops working is "normal".Have you tried locking it from the passenger side sometimes if that is the offending lock locking with the key makes the whole car lock.

I suspect your problem may lie in the wiring loom on the drivers side door, thanks to the superb quality of french engineering (I love my 306 really I do) this is prone to being 'rubbed' when you open the door and can cause problems with the central locking, electric mirrors, electric windows etc. This was the problem with mine when its central locking started to play up, if you do replace the wiring loom don't buy the peugeot one, the citroen part was much cheaper.

I'd check that was the problem first.

Was about £35 about 9 months ago, Peugeot wanted £60 (although my local dealer only seems to sell platinum plated parts)

Good call, It could also be the lock actuators, control board, relay etc luckily it was the loom in mine. I stripped the drivers door down inside and checked the wires. Electrical tape could also provide a cost effective solution if it is the wires causing the problem.

this is not an isolated incident though

have had someone take the door card off already, and they said there was already alot of electrical tape around some wires on the loom which goes through the door, so i'm thinking maybe someone has already tried that.

I'm gonna pull it apart at the weekend and have alook myself
