Further to my search for a suitable fast peugeot I've now stumbled across the GTI-6's half brother which appers to be very similar in all but style and price (less stylish, less expensive!)- the Shitroen Xsara VTS.

So hit me with the bad news please (other than the fact they all seem to be a horrible yellow-green colour).

How much do they have in common with the 306? And do they handle? And why should I buy a GTI-6 instead?

Buy the peugeot much more solid feel to the car and in my experience usually more cared for.

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that the Xsara only shared an engine with the GTi-6. It certainly doesn't have the 6-speed gearbox and although the platform is the same I doubt it has the same suspension and brakes.

Its not a saxo, its an xsara. And peugeots shake themselves to pieces too, they just have more fun doing it.

Evo describe its a 'Citroen's GTI 6, missing a gear and a bit of handling polish' which doesn't sell it too well.

I think your right about it only sharing the engine, Matt, which is only one part of the recipe that makes the GTI-6s so good.

I shall continue my investigations!
