Discussion
i'm currently trying to buy a v6 clio. I've got a couple of quick questions about them? can any1 help?
all i want to ask is a question about some suspicious silicone on the join between the side skirts and sill?
and about cambelt changes?
ideally i'd like to have a chat with some1 to explain it fully.
thanks

There's loads of help on there already and their working on their own v6 wiki.
Basically:
Servicing: cheap
Tyres: not so
Petrol: it likes it
Handling: not as dangerous as people would have you believe
Mk1 or Mk2: you pays your money you takes your choice
Insurance: achievable try Greenlight
Modifications: yes from the normal exhaust and IK right the way through to FI
As everyday transport: yes, but not for the shopping run for a family of 4
Cambelt change is an engine out job, Renault were doing a special job. Some specialists out there will do it for sensible money. Get the water pump done at the same time. 60,000k is the nominated interval IIRC
If it's a MK1 you're looking at then the panels that make it look like a v6 are in effect bonded in place. Look at the rear panels over the wheel arches a seam between them and the c pillars is perfectly normal.
Definitely advise you visit the site above; they have a register of cars as well and this is a pretty small community of people so we often know about specific cars.
