Surely the GT was never meant as a competitor to the 197, seeing as it has 45 BHP less power! I'd say the GT was more a rival for the current "Dynamique S" model which is a 2.0 16v model producing 140 BHP. Admittedly I'd sooner have the Pug than the Dynamique S model.

I thought the the GTI was going to be 175 BHP like the Mini Cooper S, with which it shares its engine. Even in that guise, according to road tests, it is going to be faster than the 197; no great surprise though since the 182 is considerably faster than the model that replaced it (I've personally proved this on the road).

Yes the GTi will have 175bhp. But when BMW build the MINI Cooper Works next year, Peugeot will have the option to take the 210 bhp engine into the 207.

That would be interesting, the GTI looks really well and the nice seats they refer to are very much like the gti 180 seats from the 206. Alloys are 17's like the GT but in a different style and the twin pipes on the back look well. All together a good looking hot hatch and should drive well based on the GT 150
