Greetings and welcome to the Clio Cup club....thumbup

GDI are pretty good by all accounts. Thats where the tuning work was done to my 172 Cup, although i have the SMT6 ECU fitted. If you are quick there was one of these for sale on cliosport.net for around £160 instead of nearer £600 that GDI will charge you. With that you'll need it mapped properly though. Have a look at my other thread at the top of the French forum. The last post i made is the RR graph done when it was mapped at GDI. My car does have other supporting mods though...

Good choice of car rotate

RS Tuning do remaps. Its not live mapped on a RR but they are well regarded and relatively cheap. Thats where I'll go eventually I expect.

K-tec (and others I expect) sell the Group N Ecu, which raises the rev limit amongst other things

Agree there is a fair bit of bollox on the CS forum (kind of like here really!) but it is a good club, lots of sound people when you actually meet them.

Looks like we're gonna have our own club within a club of PHers who own Renaultsport Clios, as I'm another who prefers the atmosphere over here in PH.

Its a slippery slope

I was going to leave mine standard. Then the exhaust fell off after 3k miles of ownership. "Hmmm...may as well get a stainless cat back then, plus sports cat while I'm at it" ha ha!

Get inlet manifold matching before cams mate. Good bang for buck to be had there. Will be my next port of call with a remap to go with it.

I was advised to get inlet manifold, exhaust, decat etc before getting a remap done. Saying that, they aren't cheap to get more power out of, more fun with suspension seats and brakes sorted.

I dont like cliosport forum either. I did try to persist with it, but in the end, its like you say, its just circular arguments about 182 versus Type R, or 182 versus Ferrari, or just some crap like that.

I never met any of them though, but on what I saw I'm not sure I would bother. Its difficult to imagine they can all be like that though!

All I'd say is you should'nt confuse the forum with the actual owners club. Alot of what goes on on the forum is just banter between people bored at work.

The forum is very usefull if you ever need any technical advice, much more so than here as its more specific.

Fair enough, as I said, I doubt they can all be bad, and it wouldnt be fair to tarnsih everyone with the same brush.

I am sure we can both agree there are some idiots on there though.

Oh yes.

It goes with the territory really. Theres more younger people on CS as Clio's are obviously cheap and good first cars. PH is more grown up for sure.

Ive had the usual creaking strut top bearings , a noisy driveshaft , full set of hydraulic tappets as one seemed to be tapping in the morning for about 30 seconds , climate control pack , and the cd player didn t read disks sometimes . But i ll be honest i don t know anyone thats had these probs before apart from the struts creaking . I ve had all the work done under warranty . It is an awesome car though and hopefully i wont have any more probs . Enjoy your car .
