anyone had this problem?

Only happens on a very light throttle, give it some beans and it revs back to idle

Can I lubricate the throttle cable or is it a strip out and replace job?

i would try cleaning the throttle body butterfly up as a first port of call and make sure you have no air leaks to the inlet system

found out it's the throttle cable which has rusted inside its liner

Mine's doing the same funnily enough. It's okay when driving enthusiastically but a real pain when being driven normally.

How much to rectify?

the exact same symptons to mine

new cable is £20 - take the O/S/F wheel off and arch liner to make it easier, 2 spanner haynes rating and 1 hour tops

I added some grease into the sleeve as water collects in there

Cheers envy,

I will get hold of a cable and get it done asap. Loving the car but find this a tad frustrating!
