I'm looking for a RS Clio Steering Wheel for a 172 I have. The grip has disintegrated on the RHS and it's marring an otherwise really nice car. I'm on the hunt with Find-a-Part and the usual suspect salvage but if anyone has one that is no longer in use I'd be interested in it. The all seem to be a similar colour leather, but it's for a black car.

Out of curiosity is it the smooth rubber bit between the spokes and wheel that has gone, as mine has a small tear in with just over 31k miles on the clock.

Yes, it's the thumb grip. Common fault, they melt in the sunshine and gradually deteriorate. if it wasn't for airbag I'd buy a nice Momo alternative.

I hide mine under an old t-shirt when parked in the summer months

Strangely those bits do seem to have the texture of soft cheese, can you not just get those bist retrimmed with a bit of leather or something though and keep the original wheel, saves pfaffing with airbag issues.

I've bought one. Not really thought about retrimming the thumb grips. I assume quite expensive as a one-off. Car should be all sorted within a week.

This happened on my megane coupe (not quite the same as the RS clio- but still renault), so i brought myself some turtle wax leather cleaner which has sort of made it better, it probably give it a bit of a longer life, this started happening after 26000miles. The problem is do you park under the trees and get the car shitted on or do you carry some sort of cover with you?
