Renault Megane Sport Cup or Trophy
Discussion
Try them and see, for pure petrolhead performance the Trophy would seem to be the one to go for, but if you're getting at your only car the Trophy may be too much.
If you tell the dealer that they've already got your money and you just need to decide between them, then a decent 1/2 - 1 hour test drive of each isn't too much to ask of them for you to make the right decision for you.

I thought that the 'Cup Chassis' was actually the same as the 'Trophy Chassis' - but would need to investigate further - see if I can find the press releases. The grey alloys and cross spokes on the Megane 225 indicate the Cup Chassis as far as I know and I doubt you would notice a difference. I have been offered a 225 F1 for March and may be buying a 225 Cup this month depending upon the owner coming home from a posting overseas in time. Are you in a hurry as I would probably be very competitive against a dealer. WrightyRS ^^^ above bought his Renaultsport Clio from me
There you go. Some info about the 225 Cup Model - seems to be as I said above.
'Combined with the unique, 1.5kg lighter anthracite colour alloy wheels, retained from the Trophy, you can see how the car has achieved a total weight saving of 10kg, giving the car a 0-62mph time of 6.3 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the standard car and a top speed of 147mph.
The Cup Chassis pack has all of the various engineering changes made to the Mégane Trophy including: 18" anthracite alloy wheels, Dunlop Sport Maxx 235/40 R18 (ilo 225/40 R18), drilled front and rear brake discs, Brembo brake discs and callipers, bigger brake master cylinder with Brake Assist removed, revised steering connection and electronic programming, retuned dampers with uprated front and rear springs (25% and 77% stiffer) and dis-connectable ESP.'

Thanks for that Artdealer.
I drove the Cup today in 5dr spec really liked it great power delivery and handling was excellent. Going to drve the Trophy tommorrow. I think the trophy will be the better of the 2 cars to sell on as its much desirable (I think due to the limited numbers available). If you can come up with some figures for prices I am very happy to consider them as an alternative.

How strange, I'd always assumed that the Trophy was an upgrade to the Cup as that was the case with the 182, strange for it to be the opposite on the 225... "If the Clio Trophy is anything to go by, the Megane Trophy should gain lighter wheels, sachs remote resevoir dampers and eibach springs, a unique "Trophy" red paint and recaro seats. Does anyone know if this is the case with the Megane?"
Im no expert on the Trophy but I can tell you what I know, there is a unique colour which is Nimbus silver which all 150 or 160 have. The springs were stiffened up particulary at the rear. The chassis is different from a Fullfat 225. Im sure there are other differences I just dont know what they are. Not sure about the dampers or springs and when I went and bought one yesterday the seats didnt look like recaros.

The 225 Trophy was an upgrade to the 225 Full fat available at the time, and preceded the Cup Chassis option which then later became available for the Full Fat car. To complicate the arrangement, Renault then brought out a lower spec 225 with the Cup Chassis and called it a Cup - there are no options but metallic on that. The Trophy Ltd Edn was no longer available. Some people call the Cup Chassis the Trophy Chassis, probably anecdotal from when the salesman sold them the car!
The wheels on the Cup & Trophy cars are 1.5Kg lighter than the full fat model for lower unsprung weight on the corners. The springs are stiffer front and rear.
The Sachs Dampers are unique to the Clio Trophy.
I posted the details on the website for anyone interested.

Just been looking at the Renault Megane 225 F1 R26 spec on the official website, it lists metallic as £500 option and metallic yellow as a £1000 ish option, does the car come standard in any one of the five colours as per the website with a metallic option or not? Just thought you guys would know. Also artdealer are you a renault dealer, what are the 48m 0% interest deals like or are a supermarket 15k deal the better option.
Having driven the ATR for 4.5 years I am looking tentatively to replace it but to date haven't really seen anything compareable until know.
Cheers

Has any driven the trophy on more than a test drive. How much better than a "normal" 225 are they?
err much better IMO
I test drove the normal 225 and wouldn't had got the Megane if there wasn't a Cup/Trophy version. To me the standard 225 just felt wolloy and strange in the bends. The Cup feels much more planted and controlable. Had the Cup version for over a year now and it seems to get better as I get more used to it.
I'd say its an easy choice if you don't mind the harder ride.
Check out meganesport.net where you'll find loads of opinion.

Hi, get the finance quotes and check the total amount payable on a 0% x 48m deal and a £15K car at the best finance deal you can get. I used to be a Renault dealer blah blah... now I work for myself with the pseudonym in the forums, although it's not much of a pseudonym nowadays as many people know me as artdealer all over the Interweb haha. PM me if you would like me to see what I could do for you thru one of my 'sources'.
