Hi All,

Anyone know where there's a Renault specialist in the reading / wokingham etc. area I think it's a bit of a rip off to charge over £600 for a cambelt change and service on a 1.2 16v 51 plate clio.

Anyone know how many hours labour it should be etc?

Cheers,

Ben.

its 3.8 hours if the water pump is replaced at the same time as the belt which is likely to be leaking i would change it anyway yes

Thanks, not two days work like the local franchise has tried to say then - tossers! I can't even imagine it's that hard, there is loads of space around the engine to work.

You happen to be a "spanner monkey", at a renault dealership then do you?

So what would you recommend at 70,000 miles, looks like it's coolant replacement, brake fluid replacement, cambelt (guessing there's a water pump and tensioner too) and full service inc spark plugs?

yep all of that. and rip the rear brake drums off for inspection of the shoes and wheel cylinders etc
basically look for any excessive wear or play in suspension etc etc and for any leaks and report as accordingly
cam belt change will come with a tensioner and you will also want the auxilary/accesory belt and bottom pulley bolt, broken accesory belt's end up being broken cambelt's 2.yes the same goes for when they are not fitted correctly they break then wind around the bottom pulley and ends in tears wrecking the valves etc not good

Cheers, that's what I thought, someone has recommended this place for anyone else that comes across this thread, just waiting to see how much they want.

Take it the 3.8 hours is just for the cam belt etc. not for the service as well?
