After years of work a friend of mine has just got his 106 maxi on the road. I've hosted some videos for him which can be found here:

Nice car and nice sound but what idiot goes down a drag strip without a crash helmet?

Most people... Do you use one on the motorway?

You could argue that driving a 106 anywhere without a helmet is suicidal. They aren't exactly the sturdiest things to crash in. Don't see a problem on a drag strip if its not one of the track rules though. Gunning a hot hatch for 1/4 mile up a 1 mile track is hardly a recipe for disaster.

I left PGAC a few months ago so hadn't seen that he'd finished it. Glad he has - at last!

For Santa Pod you only need a helmet if you're crossing the line at more than 100mph, which he seems to be just shy of.

Chris Harwood? Is that his name? He purchased my old 106GTi from me a while back I then saw it next on the front of PGTi magazine.

Yes it's chris's car.

Did you own the silver one prior to him?

Agreed, I don't use one on the motorway but then I'm not pushing my car to the very extreme of its performance where a failure of mechanics, adhesion or driver limitations will have the most dramatic effect.

It will be even better when he gets that longer final drive sorted out.

IMHO I think its a waste of time,in 2002 (I think) when I sold mine to him he had already spent about 40k on it.Each to their own.

Hes had most things at cost, so I can't see him loosing much on it if he splits it.

Granted I would rather have a 911 GT3 RS too.
