Looking at a 205 gti with an mi-16 engine, where is the best place to shop for insurance and how much to expect to pay for it?

age, area, ncb's, claim history, etc etc.

Lot's of things to take into account mate. Although, i'm also looking at something similiar, so i'll jump on the back of your thread and ask for the same info.

Herts Insurance were top dog for me on my conversion, you dont get cheaper than free of charge

Are they answering the phone these days? I had a policy with them a few years ago and anything less than a 30min wait on the phone to speak to someone was a major result.

They're better than that now - even got some natty systems where you leave your number and they call you back, or realise they have a missed call from you.

I know what you mean though, I had a policy with them a few years ago and spent nearly an hour on the phone waiting for a renewal price before taking my business elsewhere - I'd image they lost a fair amount of business from that!

To the original poster - I would try HIC as my first port of call too, most places couldn't get close for my 205.

it really helps to phone HIC at non peak times, i.e. after 5pm is a no no

I have found however that they are much better at phoning back for prospective customers. you can get a quote online and they'll most likely phone you back within afew hours

Mine's been covered by Frizzel/ Liverpool Victoria for a few years, but I'm not sure if they're taking on new modified policies.

£230 fully comp, protected no claims & class 1 business use!

Mark.
