Hi, posted a couple or 3 weeks ago looking for advice on whether or not to buy an ex-company Clio 172 from the company my wife works for..... after considering the advice I got here (thanks guys) the deal has been done at what can only be described as a 'favourable' price!

She's black, high miles (67000 on a 53 plate) but in very tidy condition. However, cambelt(s?) not been done so that is first job before any 'proper' driving! Also, got a dent on the bonnet from a bird-strike (Clio 1 Pheasant 0) but it looks like it might pop out (fingers crossed).

So, having had to 'store' my PH sticker in my Passat estate whilst awaiting my new 'fun' car it should be back in business early next week. Anyone around Lincoln see me (Black, reg FN53***) with PH sticker gimme a wave!

Cheers all and thanks again for the advice.

PS Car has been on 95 RON all its 67000 miles - is it worth me switching it to 97/98? One theory says it will adjust to the 'better' fuel after a few gallons and be a better car for it, another theory says after 67000 miles on 95 changing now ain't gonna make any difference...

Yes, put the better fuel in. I've always run on 98, and its definitely better IMO.

Someone on the cliosport forum reckons a car rag (might have been autocar) tested a clio 172 mk1 on different fuel and the low octave stuff made it about 6 seconds slower to 100 than the 98 stuff, quite a difference.

Whether thats true i dont know...

yikes

I've tried to run mine on 95 twice, once just to see and the other time out of desperation. The car did not like it at all, I could feel it pinking and medium to high urge, got some 97 in as quick as I could (not close to Tesco or Shell) and it's been a lot better since.

Glad you got the car and like it though, they are a real grower thumbup
