Hi Guys,

I have recently taken on my dads old H reg 205 1.6, (it was his station car and only has 35k miles )

Anywho, I have a few questions which i was wondering about...

1) When you pull away in the car in 1st gear theres a king of whistle sound, its hard to describe but it is just after the clutch is engaged and the revs build....very odd sound.
2) The current tyres on it are rubbish, what are the best on offer for the little car?
3) I want to take it in for a service is there anything in particular i should ask the garage to look out for?
4) Does anyone know of a good specialist in the Loughborough/Leicester region?

Thanks very much
adam

Goodyear Eagle F1's for tyres.

These guys are near you www.205parts.com for service etc. They are members on 205GTIdrivers forum and www.psooc.com.

1 - possibly a synchro bearing or something like that (im not a gearbox person at all)

2 - if you acn afford it, get a set of 1.9 alloys and fit195/50/15 or 185/55/15s. Favourites with 205 owners are goodyear eagle f1's and toyo proxes. Im not sure what tyres are available in 14" for teh 1.6 pepperpot alloys but look for similar if not the same

3 - If its only got 35k it probably hasnt had a tiiming belt changed? Its always worth doing this especially considering its age. Apart from that, fresh fluids and filters will be good for it. If you have any issues with idle or stalling it may need new dizzy cap, rotor arm, HT leads and plugs. And from my own experience the exhaust downpipe gasket is shite so if your exhaust sounds blowy this could be the problem, its only about £12 from peugeot.

4. www.205parts.com/ are in leicester from memory, though im not sure what they do and teh website seems to be down at the moment

I agree, but you'll need the 1.9's 15's to fit the entry F1 GSD3 in 195/50R15...!

Nice car, keep looking at the odd 1.9 as a bit of a track toy...
