To those who track their Clio 182 Trophies
Discussion
Thinking of getting one of these as a fun track car, any thoughts on how they stand up to reasonably regular and hard track driving?
Also, has anybody changed the seats for proper race seats, I thought the standard road seats are way too high for my personal liking. And brakes? (destroyed a set on a hire car in one day at Rockingham)
Thanks for any help & experiences!

Hi, yes it was a 182. Seat definately too high for my liking, which I'm hoping could be resolved by combination of lower mounting and a bucket race seat. How much do the std seats go for? Do you track yours, any experiences to share?
Thanks!
Thanks!
If you are talking about changing the seats in a 182 or 182 cup then they dont really go for much. Probably a couple of hundred pounds.
If you are talking about changing the seats in a 182 trophy (although I cant think why you would) then the recaros they come with go for a hell of a lot of money. Ive seen them change hands for a grand.
If you track your 182 I recommend you change the brake set up (thats for a 182/cup/trophy) by putting track based pads like Pagid on there as well as braided hoses and possibly bigger discs.
Haven't tracked my Trophy but I know of many people who have - they seem to stand up well.
Don't think anyone has changed their seats although a couple of people have fitted harnesses which isn't too hard to do. In terms of brakes, a set of braided hoses and uprated pads seem to be the way to go (good options available from Mintex and Performance Friction)
If you go over to www.cliotrophy.co.uk and post the same question there you should get some more informed answers - Nik who runs it has done 10 trackdays so far and is off to the 'ring next month.

ive only been on track for one day, at bedford. brakes faded as you would expect, but I only used about 10% of the pads up. I would like to get some braided hoses and new pads at some point, which would probably be cheaper to do than to get a main dealer to refit standard ones anyway.
Andrew, I have a 182 with cup packs and RECAROS for sale.
Its in the classified section here, and on autotrader. Its a 55 plate car, 12 months old
with only 7300 miles.
I have taken the car to Knockhill for one track evening and found it no probs
at all. Superb fun, and the recaros were brilliant. I had planned to go back a few
times but as yet havent managed, but probably would have gone for some brake mods if I could have fitted some more track time in. Been busy driving a 993 I just got.
