Modern Lagunas, how bad/good are they?
Discussion
Seeing as I may be in the market for a new cheapish car and I like V6s, how good/bad are the modern Lagunas? They depreciate like a stone so you can get a 51 plate 3.0 v6 with say 60k on for under 4 grand. I've had a Cliosport and that was very well built.
Anyone got any experience with a modern laguna?

where do i start lagunas! we wanted cheaper motoring so my beloved bmw 330i had to go and with the arrival of a dog an estate was required a couple of chaps had lagunas at work they had, had no problems as the estates looks quite stylish loads of kit on the initiale we bought a 2.2dci in June. Took it straight down to south of france where it performed fantistic. Since then I have had nothing but problems I'm on first name terms with our RAC man.It has had lots of sensor problems its been on a flat bed 3 times in as many months. Been back to the garge 4 times in 2 weeks due to the esp. When its runing its great but thats not often enough. Anybody want a 2003 2.2dci sporttourer initiale.
I really wouldn't go there if I was you. Have you thought about why they might be so cheap....
I would say that as a private buyer you are better getting your money, dousing it in petrol and flicking a lit match at it. Seriously.
I had one as a company car, and it spent 10 weeks off the road in the 5 months I had it. I finally got rid of the piece of when it locked into 5th gear and wouldn't come out. This was at the end of June. It is still at the garage now.
Plus as an added bonus the fuel consumtion average about 23mpg and that was only a 2l I should think the V6 would be in the high teens.
Buy anything other than a Laguna.
Paul.

2.2 dci - 105500 miles (less than 3 years) ecu played up towards the end, along with cruise control, exhaust failed by the cat at 58000 cost £800 to repair, bushes failed at 90000, usual discs/pads, handling so so typical front wheel drive, anonymity 100%, other than that just changed the oil at 9000 instead of 18000 miles, still going strong when replaced
now have 2.0 dci 175 gt full leather, full electric, Bluetooth sat nav as an extra which is pretty good, dirt cheap if you know where to look, just over £18000 compared to list price, shits on anything German (and off shoots)/Anglo - American 1.9/2.0/2.2 diesel much to their surprise and annoyance despite being a gt same handling, gt in name only I think, 100 % anonymity not festooned with badges on the boot
build quality so so, seen worse (Bentley) seen better, panels do fit, wind noise ok, some tyre noise
obviously not the dream car of choice but it was cheap and as with all cars in the sector stacked with add ons and reasonably cheap to service with menu pricing at dealers even compared to local garage, f'n expensive when it does go wrong, wriggle out of warranty, crap aa cover
find it comfortable with a good seat adjustment which was the first priority due to mileage
happily lugs family of 4 1/2 from Cheshire - Cherbourg to Quimper at 80 all day
company car, so resale and depreciation not top of list, perhaps not first car of choice if I were a private buyer looking to retain for a number of years
not everyone’s choice but stacked up just as well against similar cars in sector - each to their own
