Again try on 205GTIdrivers - there are a few chaps who recondition them.

There's a place in Leicester called 205 Parts that specializes in reconditioning and fitting rear beams. Heard some good reports about them.

Just don't bother fitting a "good" second hand one. They all need new bearings and seals at an absolute minimum and most need a lot more. Once the seals start to leak it is a matter of time before the bearings collapse completely leaving a right mess inside.

I got my rear beam fully rebuilt and uprated by XSport. I'm a regular there and can highly recommend them

Out of interest guys, what sort of cost difference would you expect for a replacement beam to be fitted yourself and getting one of the suggested companies to do the whole thing for you?

Well!

It depends on the amount of parts needing replacing. I had mine rebuilt around 3years ago by a mate of a forum, I took the car to him and he stripped and rebuilt the beam. If cost me roughly £300 of which around £190 was in parts.

I would have done it myself but it was cold outside!

And getting Anthony to do it is always easier! I too have chickened out so far (on the rebuild bit) but to swap the beam is an easy job if you have a few spanners, jack and axle stands.
