A month ago i bought a phase 2 clio 172, Up until now i had never given the car much stick of the line. On the weekend a friend lent me his G-Meter to get an idea of the 0-60 figures. I found that in first gear when the revs hit 5000+rpm there was a clunking noise what seemed to be coming from the drivers side. Has anyone else found this problem? and if so any ideas to what it could be? The car hit a best of 6.86!

It could be the engine mounts. Its a common problem on 172's.

quite possibly, Will have to check over them. So do you reckon its not the drive shafts?

Its a possibility, but 1st gear clunking over 5k gearshifts sounds more like the mounts to me. Definitely check them out.
