Heavy clutch on Wiliams Clio 3

Can anyone help with this one. the clutch on my car that has done 72k is very heavy. i suspect that this is a common one. any ideas people?

My clutch has been heavy for the past nine years, so I assumed that "they are all like that"

Quite common, the diaphragm is siezing up. New clutch sorts it out.

thanks guys, i will go the cheap route and do the clutch cable first and see how it goes from there. Cheers
